I first encountered Joost de Valk at one of the early WordCamps in San Francisco.  He struck me as a smart, good guy; willing to provide plenty of insights.  During the ensuing years, I’ve seen his free plugins grow into a whole set of various free and pro versions  (local SEO, newsSEO, videoSEO) plus his higher-end consulting services.  He continues to be the authority I trust most.

SEO can be daunting and has only gotten more complicated with every passing year.  Add to that, Google changes things all the time; providing new insights but making SEO an ongoing project.  Your score and visibility a year ago often deteriorates over time as new competitors, PPC ads crowd out what was once top placement.
